ROEL and Partners Donate to Cimmaron-Memorial High School
Las Vegas , NV . . . Cimarron-Memorial High School is one of six high schools in the Clark County School District that offers a construction related curriculum for students. The class offers instruction in building techniques, plan reading, project estimating, and design. This program has been in existence for seven years and is led by Michael Merced, the construction program teacher. It gives the students an inside look and the ability to prepare for a trade, which is great for the growing need in the construction industry.
The students learn construction skills hands-on by building multiple storage sheds with quality materials. Because the Clark County School District is under funded, these sheds, which include footings, electricity, lighting, and a shingled roof, are auctioned off to raise funds for supplies for the next set of sheds.
When Mike Bolda, a project engineer for ROEL Construction, and his project team from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, which included Joseph Hernandez, John Koranicki, Kyle Moore, Sara Riehl, and Skip Waugh, recently contacted Scott Smith at the Associated General Contractors Las Vegas Chapter's office asking how they could help with any of the AGC's community service projects, Scott put them in contact with Michael Merced, who jumped at the volunteers' offer. The UNLV team has gathered over $5,000 in donations such as building materials, tools, and safety glasses, etc. from Bergelectric, Nelson Framing, Pueblo Tribe LLC., and ROEL Construction Company.
ROEL is truly grateful to have the opportunity to enhance and support the community with our construction expertise as well as through the unique talents and compassionate hearts of individuals throughout the company. At ROEL, community service is the tangible result of our Spirit of an American Family®!
