ROEL® PRESENTS ALPINE CHALLENGE IN SUPPORT OF RADY CHILDREN"S HOSPITAL AND THE ALPINE KIWANIS COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP FUND

San Diego , CA … For nearly a century ROEL Construction Company has been involved in community service throughout San Diego . Last year, on July 20, 2007, Wayne Hickey, CEO of ROEL Construction, presented Rady Children's Hospital Foundation ( www.chsd.org ) with a check for $12,500 to help continue the support of their mission “to restore, sustain and enhance the health and developmental potential of children through excellence in care, education, research and advocacy.” The remaining money went to the Alpine Kiwanis College Scholarship Fund and covered the overhead costs for the event.

This year, ROEL is dedicated on increasing the donation amount raised from the event. An exciting addition is the support of cycling legend Andy Hampsten, who will be riding in the event to earn funds for Rady Children's Hospital San Diego and the Alpine Kiwanis College Scholarship Fund. On Saturday, April 26, 2008, cyclists from across the state will gather to explore the mountain scenery of East County San Diego. The Alpine Challenge ( www.alpinechallenge.com ) is an annual charity bike ride that has multiple rides that range from 20 miles to 72 miles throughout Alpine and the surrounding areas.

ROEL Construction employees also volunteer their time and energy to work the event. The combined effort of Zoë Hickey, marketing director, and Terry Meyers, safety coordinator, will guarantee a fun, safe, and successful event. ROEL employees will man all the SAG stops along the ride, which provide food, water, and rest to the participants in the ride.

As ROEL has expanded over the years so has its philanthropy such that nearly all 350 ROEL employees and their families are active in the neighborhoods in which they live, work, and play. The company is truly grateful to have the opportunity to enhance and support the community by delivering over 90 years of construction expertise as well as through the unique talents and compassionate hearts of individuals throughout the company. At ROEL, community service is the tangible result of its motto, “ Spirit of an American Family ® ” .
