ROEL® ANNOUNCES KEVIN ELLIOTT PRESIDENT of the AGC SAN DIEGO CHAPTER
San Diego, CA… The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) San Diego Chapter welcomed Kevin Elliott as its 2009 President at its annual installation of officers, directors, membership, and safety awards dinner held on Thursday, January 29th.
ROEL Construction has a long history of serving the construction industry through AGC. Dating back to the 1950’s, Paul Roel was a founding member and President of the North Dakota chapter of AGC, and served as President of the San Diego chapter in 1964, as well as a life member of the AGC National Board of Directors. George Line, long-term ROEL leader was AGC San Diego President in 1984 and the company’s chairman, John Elliott also served two terms in 1992 and 1997. Kevin Elliott, who will balance the demands of his new post with his responsibilities as ROEL’s President, said in his remarks to the crowd of over 500, “AGC members are depending on their leadership team to advocate for answers to local, national and global challenges facing the industry. As an AGC contractor member, ROEL is counting on a productive Association. That’s quite a powerful motivator for me to work hard.”
For years, the San Diego Chapter of AGC has led the nation in creative programs to benefit the local industry and has been recognized on many occasions. ROEL believes in giving back to the construction industry through its involvement in the AGC. “It is with great pride that I watch my son Kevin become the next President of the AGC San Diego Chapter, said ROEL’s Chairman of the Board, John Elliott. I know Kevin will carry on the traditions and integrity of the AGC in his tenure as President.”
The value of the AGC affiliation is memorialized by ROEL’s two AGC SIR Award recipients, Paul Roel and John Elliott. This award is the highest honor an individual can attain within the association and the construction industry, and only 22 such awards have been given in the entire 82-year history of the AGC chapter. The SIR award takes its name from the AGC creed, Skill, Integrity, and Responsibility. “During these challenging economic times, the board members of the AGC San Diego Chapter looked to their executive leadership for a President with a rich experience base to lead our membership with unwavering confidence. Having successfully navigated through the rises and falls of San Diego’s construction industry, Kevin brings to his post a proven track record with the heart and soul we seek in our 2009 President,” said AGC Executive Vice President, Jim Ryan.
ROEL CEO, Wayne Hickey stated, “In this post, Kevin is joining both a long-standing family and company commitment to our industry and the AGC. I have great faith that his leadership will benefit our local chapter, the San Diego community, and the building industry.”
