ROEL Supports Local Schools
San Diego , CA … At the end of September a group of employees from ROEL Construction presented truck loads of school supplies including backpacks, notebooks, paper, pencils, and crayons to the staff at Marshall Elementary. Marshall is located at 3550 Altadena Avenue and a Title One school. This means that any additional funding they receive goes to intervention personnel, strategies, and support. The principal, Jois Michowski, stated that “teachers end up buying things for their students from their own pockets.” So of course, when she was contacted by the Partner's in Education Department about ROEL's offer of donations, she accepted. “This school has many needs and we do not have the parental assistance in helping us raise funds,” said Michowski.
ROEL employees also volunteer with Baker Elementary, located at 4041 T Street . This K-6 grade school is also lacking parental involvement, and that's where ROEL employees step in. The first Friday of each month is deemed “Family Friday” by the school. On this day employees from ROEL spend an hour reading with the children or doing math with them. The teachers appreciate the extra volunteers and the ROEL employees love the time they get to spend with the students.
“We are truly grateful to have the opportunity to enhance and support the community with our construction expertise as well as through the unique talents and compassionate hearts of individuals throughout the company. At ROEL, community service is the tangible result of our spirit of an American family,” reports Kevin Elliott, president of ROEL Construction.
